@Brian: There are multiple issues here, one is that the upgrade did not
complete for Morton. This is why I need the logs. The other is the udev
error. That is either a bug in udev or a side-effect of the not fully
completed upgrade.

I'm seeing this also, after having done an "apt-get dist-upgrade"
upgrade from jaunty to karmic.
Obviously I don't have a "dist-upgrade" log, so let's try approaching
this from a more trouble-shooting oriented point of view.
