Poor Rx on TL-WN422G wifi adapter (zd1211rw driver
Not the problem remains the same, low signal Rx at a distance of 50 cm 50% of
signal.
I still have the same problem since I installed ubuntu on my notebook Hercules
Ecafé e800-h2oG. Thinking it would outperform the optimized mandrake who
brought the factory.
Sorry for the delay in response. Sorr
@Jose: Do you mean that the performance of the card is poor, or just
that the reported signal strength is low? I ask this because I use this
card and it performs well (i.e. better than my laptop's internal wifi
adapter) even though the software tell me that the signal strength is
low.
As far as I
Excuse me for my English translator. I have a problem with the zd1211rw
driver Zydas signal remains low at barely 1 meter from the router the
signal is 30%. After having gone even to the version of ubuntu 10.10. I
continue with the problem if you need any more information do not
hesitate to ask.

HI Guys,
I have a ZYDAS ZD1211 usb wifi dongle... on the same computer with WIN XP
installed the dongle works perfectly, on UBUNTU 10.04LTS is impossible to surf
the net.
The signal streghts is really low :(
There is a bug in the ZYDAS driver because under WIN XP it works super
perfect!

After using this adapter for quite a while now I think there is nothing
wrong with the actual quality of reception because I get significantly
better performance from it than from my internal wifi adapter, which is
exactly what I would expect to happen. By "better" I mean that it can

Hi Robert,
This bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it
recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? Can you try with the
latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO CD images are available from

Same here using Xubuntu 9.10 - Network manager reports a signal strength
of 46% when the access point is literally a few metres away and reports
a sync speed of 1Mb/s. The PC with this problem is used as a backup
server and while my upload speed to the computer is around the 4.5 Mbps

I'm having the exact same problem as marfal, I can confirm this:

This from http://wireless.kernel.org/en/users/Drivers/zd1211rw:

Just tested this with the bleeding edge driver from

zd1211rw Zyxel G202
I am currently running Jaunty (kernel 2.6.28-16 generic), using the
Zyxel G202 that came with the router, with no issues. Plugged and
played, signal is great 80-100%, speed 36-54mbs.
Tested Karmic release candidate and could achieve no more that 44% and

PROBABLY RELATED BUG USING NDISWRAPPER
I have just tried to get the dongle working using ndiswrapper and I have
encountered a similar, but not identical problem.
Whereas with the Linux driver the signal strength is tiny (e.g. -250dB),
and the noise level is apparently -256dB, with the Windows dri
PLEASE READ THIS FIRST (IT WILL MAKE THINGS SIMPLER)
I can simplify this a lot now. Forget most of the detail above.
Misbehaviour by the network manager plasmoid and other factors were
making things look much weirder than they were.
This bug can be simply be expressed as follows:
The signal stren
I have just discovered that the ozonebe.net access point I was trying to
connect to was damaged in a thunderstorm last night. I have also been
able to reproduce the slow downloads via one access point in Windows. In
other words it is possible/likely that Linux has nothing to do with the
problem(s).
I am starting to wonder if I have more than one problem here, one of
them being to do with differences between wireless b and g. I noticed
when I was connecting in Windows, that the ozonebe.net access point I
was trying to use only allowed 80211b access (presumably because someone
else was connecte
