Thanks for reporting this and helping to make ubuntu better. We tried
on lucid to make some kind of 3D/2D fallback, can you give a test with
the lucid UNE version (alpha3)?

I found my problem. I was running it at 16bit colour due to the low-end
card. However, putting it back to 24bit made the crashing disappear. I
now have a working netbook-launcher - but can't use it (10sec for a
click to work isn't acceptable). I'll see if there's some other wm or
something...

I can add "me too". I am trying to squeeze a bit more life out of my
sons old PC - it has a nvidia GeForce2 MX/MX 400 with a Viewsonic PS17
CRT monitor. When I installed UNR it correctly installed the proprietary
nvidia drivers, but it couldn't autodetect the old monitor and it came
up in 300-somet
Leaving as medium since we have no other reports of this so far, but I
would be curious to know if it is reproducible, and if it happened only
after installing, or if it happened with the livecd as well.

The bug appear just after installing UNR, at first boot. I can see only desktop
background (orange picture), and a little gray stripe on the top of the window
with some icon (net, time, my name...).

to start the classic, nor the new interface, so had you used desktop
