I'm having the same issue with 32-bit Ubuntu 10.10 on Acer Aspire 5100
(AMD Turion x2 & Radeon 200M). Screen goes blank but the backlight never
turns off.
Command "xset dpms force off" works fine but the power manager just
can't turn off the backlight no matter what settings I've tried. I've

Ubuntu better. A new version of GNOME Power Manager is available on
Maverick and we are wondering if this bug is still an issue for you with

Present in Karmic Release Candidate on Acer Aspire 4710. Screensaver /
screen lock blacks screen, but backlight never goes off.
