After upgrading to kernel 2.6.31-11 the screensaver works properly,
however the screen still goes black when unplugging the power cord.

Please see drm related kernel messages from the latest kernel. Is it OK
that KMS is disabled?

I observer two additional phenomena on the same computer:
* Screensaver doesn't turn on. Screen just blinks when screensaver should be
activated.
* When the power cord is detached, the screen goes black. I assume that the
driver tries to lower the backlight, however I'm not sure whether the lapt
