Thanks vito. Seems like this bug is caused by primarily by gst-plugins-
ugly and for totem by totem-pl-parser. I linked the gstreamer issue
here, too. Ubuntu 10.04 currently ships gstreamer0.10-plugins-ugly
0.10.13-2, but the issue has been fixed for a later version. When Ubuntu

This is interesting. I get this error in 2 Karmic's. One is a long
history upgrade starting from Feisty, Gutsy, Hardy, Intrepid, and then

vito, I am using kamic, but I don't get errors when following your
instructions. Could you please comment on the upstream bug since you are
getting the error? Thanks.

Sorry, but in Karmic with libtotem-plparser12 version 2.28.1-1 the bug
is still there.
Try to run this gst-launch-0.10 playbin2
uri=http://bible.ort.org/webmedia/t1/0101.ra and you'll still get the
same "plugin "/usr/lib/gstreamer-0.10/libgstladspa.so" failed to
initialise" error and no playing.
This should be fixed in Karmic now. Thanks for reporting.
