xorg.conf tweak is 800x600.
Pls let me know if any system logs are needed.

I added to the bug here so it wouldnt be a duplicate but I started a
forum thread. Sorry, wasnt accurate.
Xorg.conf was in a HD installation, not live CD. Will try to get the log
file when I'm home next to that desktop pc.

You
@Shady,
What is the number of the bug you reported?
When you tried creating the xorg.conf I have posted in the OP, where you using
a live CD?
Did you make sure after booting that Ubuntu did not rename it and not use it?
Maybe you should increase slightly the horizontal and/or vertical range(s).
C
entering xrandr -s 1024x768 to get the wanted resolution on a benq
beamer did not change the 800x600 resolution but resulted in an error

Another forum suggested entering the following from the console:
xrandr -s 640x480
xrandr -s 800x600
xrandr -s 1024x600
It instantly brought back 1024x600 to my eeepc running easy peasy
(ubuntu).
Have not rebooted to see how long the fix lasts.

Thank you for reporting this bug. Could you also provide the outputs of
`dmesg` and `xrandr --verbose`. The easiest way to attach this and more
useful information is if you run `apport-collect 433326` from the
affected computer.
