Ah, I didn't check against the debian package. If that's how debian did it
too, then no need to go fixing their problems right now. Smaller diff to
debian is a better answer.

There's one problem I see with your package in the PPA in it's current
state that needs to be addressed if this will be uploaded to Ubuntu
karmic.
1) Some files in the diff.gz are changed outside of debian/. These should be
done as patches instead.

I just tried an upgrade from a customized 0.5.2 to 0.5.3 to see what would
happen. The following user-modifiable config files are updated in 0.5.3:
/etc/LCDd.conf
/etc/lcdexec.conf
/etc/lcdproc.conf
/etc/lcdvc.conf
Of those, lcdproc and lcdvc changes are inconsequential (comments only).

I can confirm that this is currently working on Mythbuntu 9.10 Beta with
jyoders LIRC package as of about 10 days ago.
Tomorrow I will rebuild my computer with the latest Mythbuntu image
which includes the updated LIRC packages (0.8.6-0ubuntu1). Then I will
add jyoders LCDProc packages
