Yes, but you aren't using the ppa which is what I asked you to try in
the previous message...
Also it might work by just installing the 'openoffice.org' meta package
which pulls in java and a few other packages without needing to upgrade
to the ppa version.
In any case it does work for me with OO
9.04 is what had the problem, it seems to have quite an issue of this, I
tried reinstalling the OS and it isn't even on that (the menu of it) it
seems, I used the cd I got from shipit-for reinstalling (I thought that
would be a better copy).

Do you still have this issue with the new version in Ubuntu 9.04 with
the ppa at https://launchpad.net/~openoffice-pkgs/+archive/ppa or Ubuntu

It takes a few seconds for it to come up for me, it seems to be fairly
processor intensive.
