No special characters in the folders.
As for what folders, I just realized that it's only happening in my
linked folders (symbolic links) that I have coming from my main
partition. All regular folders in my home directory have no issues at
all.

a specific one? is there any special char used in the naming for the one
having the issue? it's working correctly there
