doesn't seem like a good long-term solution?

I am having the same Yahoo "Network Error" problem. I tried to do an
apport-collect for you, but bug is closed. I am on latest updates of
9.10 32-bit.
If Empathy is now the default with Karmic, would be a shame to go to
release with this bug still a problem.

error".

I'm having a similar problem with 9.10 beta. Trying to connect to gtalk
and says "Network Error", The debug info for Empathy is the following:
empathy/Other-DEBUG: 1.254781e+09: empathy_idle_set_presence: Changing presence
to Available (2)
