Question:
I still have firefox-3.0 installed, so apparently this "forceful
upgrade" did not happen yet. Is it of any help in future testing if I
leave the firefox-3.0 installed for now, or can I manually remove it
already?

ok. this bug is wont fix then. The idea was that all firefox-3.0*
packages are marked as automatically installed, which would allow them
to be removed by update-manager. however, we found that there are bugs
in gterminate and livecd installs that mark _all_ packages as manually
installed.

Alexander, you are right. If no firefox is open, the 3.0 link opens
Firefox 3.0.
My Problem in Bug 438112 was that I don't want to keep 3.0 after
upgrading to 3.5 and never actively chose to keep it. Not sure if this
belongs in this Bug or Bug 438112 should be de-duplicated.

i would think that you already have ffox 3.5 open if that happens.
reason is that we share now profiles so firefox will open a new
window/tab in any existing browser that uses the same profile. Please
confirm that using firefox 3 link opens firefox 3 if no other browser
window is open yet.
