I get this error as well. When ever I need to authenticate with the root

So much for that theory, it's still doing the same thing.
Also... I actually get the same kind of dialog for any authenticating program.
I think it's related that it doesn't ask for my password on login... but I'm
not sure why it's doing that.

Authenticate window doesn't close after clicking
I have a guess as to what caused this...
When I upgraded to Karmic, I think it got rid of my user's password. I went to
the users and groups config, and tried to set it to what it was before, and it
wouldn't let me, because it was too short. I changed it to a longer one, I'll
see if this changes
The first time I click on it it brings up the choices for speeds and settings.
If I choose one it gives me the window.
If I click on it again, it brings up the choices again. If I choose one it
closes. After this it will not respond to click or mouseover.
