I don't recall having any issues with the GNOME splash screen. I'm
pretty sure this is an issue with the Moodin KSplash engine, which GNOME
doesn't use. The package for Moodin is ksplash-engine-moodin, and here's
the KDE-Look.org page:

I reported the same thing some time ago:

It still happens with the latest Edgy packages, but only with Xinerama
active (if Xinerama is disabled or there is just one screen everything
works fine).

Hi, I've similar issues on my dual screen (not on my laptop). I use too
nvidia drivers, with twinview.
