Ubuntu better. This particular bug has already been reported and is a
duplicate of bug 411962, so it is being marked as such. Please look at
I think the bug is with PulseAudio, not with Firefox. I have the same
problem with Wine/Steam/Steam games hogging my sound and only giving it
back when I exit Steam. Steam happens to load on Startup and is one of
the very first apps to load.
