my gaim started, with status starting Gaim shows at the bottom panel.
After that there is no activity it just stop... no warning, no error
message. i tried to reinstall it but nothing change

was in fact caused by misconfiguration.

So, when I loged on and the gnome started first, (after the system stand
up).
I was create a file for my home directory: .preferences or .profile?
(sorry this was another computer on the University and I'm not there any
more). And these file is a standard auto start file, for the linux

Could you please check to see if you .xinitrc file has gaim set to start
before gnome-session, or if in System->Preferences->Sessions, gaim is
listed in the "Startup Programs" list?
Please let us know. If this not a problem for you any longer, and you
figured out the reason why it happened
