I can confirm this with an Apple PowerBook G4 using the Ubuntu 6.10 Edgy
Desktop CD imaged burned to a DVD+RW disc.

I tried Edgy beta the one just before RC and it went to the cute
ubuntu logo thing, but the little bar under it showed no movement. The
little bar was missing in the long bar. Not sure whether that was
incomplete or just my PC. After that it went to a blank screen with a
blinking cursor.
