No, gnome-gpg command line also hung after enigmail tried to fetch the key (and
didn't fetch it). I've resolved the problem now by restoring everything from
back-up.

I have found what was happening, it was a stale .lock file, when i ran
'gpg' command it just sat there saying "waiting for the lock PID-
number", when i have checked with ps -Al i could see that there was no
process with the id number it has specified.
