So, this is weird. It appears that my video card was overheating and
causing this issue. I I rolled back the security patch, no problem, I
guess the patch is causing higher video cpu? and causing the failing
card to fail when the patch it there. I installed a new card, and
reapplied the patches, no
Note also that system load level begins dropping immediately after I
stop playing music.

I've seen exactly the same problem. When music is playing my load
average rises quickly, rendering the system unusable within about 10
minutes. Load averages above 7 are not unusual.
Tested with different audio packages (audacity, vlc, mplayer, Ubuntu

Yes, I restarted many times, I did not know what was causing the issue.
I went through the apt logs, saw the above updates, and renamed the
pulseaudio binary and the problem stopped. I then went into Synaptic and
rolled them and pinned back to the earlier version now no problem.
There were no erro
I unfortunately cannot reproduce this bug. The Pulseaudio update works
fine for me.
What audio applications do you have running?
Out of curiosity, did you restart your computer after applying the
Pulseaudio updates?
