I can confirm this bug as still present (and still annoying). Running on
gentoo x86 (ext3 fs, local), with firefox-3.6.13 and xulrunner-1.9.2.13
this still happens everytime i try to close firefox:
[pid 9921] gettimeofday({1294303284, 39}, NULL) = 0
[pid 9921] futex(0x8151c00, FUTEX_WAKE_PRI
Is problem gone with version 3.6 or 4.0 beta?
Bug 555912 - Firefox enters futex loop after crash - a duplicate? (zug is
normally correct)

Not sure, but it might be related to bug #523979

At the moment this is anecdotal, but I have experienced this problem

I purged/re-installed firefox-3.5 yesterday, changed my theme, and
haven't seen the issue since.

I can confirm this bug on an amd64 system.
BUT: my home directory is NOT mounted as ext4. It is on a seperate ext3

I deleted the ~/.mozilla/firefox-3.5 directory, same problem... so no
locking issue.
