I just tried the Ubuntu Karmic UNR Live *Beta*, booting it live from a
USB-attached SD card, and this bug appears fixed. The console
initialization in dmesg (kernel 2.6.31-11-generic) now says:
[5.207452] [drm] Initialized drm 1.1.0 20060810
[5.238043] i915 :00:02.0: PCI INT A -> GSI
@John -- I have a Dell Mini 10v here and it seems to work as expected.
The console is detected as '128x37' and when i fire up VI on VT-1 the
command line is on the bottom of the screen as expected.
It sounds very much like this has been fixed by a later kernel. Could
you try the latest karmic ker

Hi John,
Can you test the newer 2.6.31-2 Karmic kernel? The reason I ask is I
saw a few resolution related bugs fixed with that newer kernel. Please
let us know your results. Thanks.
