FIXED - HARDWARE PROBLEM
Seemed strange the USB wifi could use the Network Manager fine, but the
built-in MiniPCI seemed to be ready, just not "hearing" anything.
Cracked open MiniPCI panel, reseated wifi card and cleaned antenna
contacts - WORKS
** Changed in: b43-fwcutter (Ubuntu)

* received jaunty-updates for HAL package
(0.5.12~rc1+git20090403-0ubuntu4), which resulted in two instances of
the borrowed RT2501USB adapter being listed/selectable in the Network
Manager applet.
- next session results in return of USB adapter to single instance and
still no networks listed for
-full uninstall of b43-fwcutter package, shutdown, unplug system
-reboot system, fwcutter extracts firmware, active - FAIL
