Browsing the bug tracker for another issue with yakuake I ran across an
earlier report that has actually identified the cause of this behaviour,
which seems to be some undesired interaction between konsole/yakuake and
an input package, 'scim-qtimm'. The
i don't have this bug at all. I never noticed it in the past, and after
seeing this bug pop up in my inbox, I check it out. When I press the +
sign in Yakuake, I get another transparent window like it should.
Konsole works as well.
This is a 6.10 install, not fresh, been running since July, howeve
bug still present in fresh 6.10 it install :'(

Confirmed with Kubuntu Dapper, using KDE 3.5.5.
konsole --version:
Qt: 3.3.6
KDE: 3.5.5
Konsole: 1.6.5
Also Yakuake mirrors this behaviour exactly, if that is of interest.
