Confirmed in Ubuntu 10.04 Lucid .
When highlighting symbols most of them are mismatched or appear blank.
When pasting copied text from PDF's , some letters/symbols are of different
orientation or left blank.

This bug appears frequently on russian pdfs.
Some more example:
On the attached pdf Evince adds 'e' symbol to the end of every word. Also, it
adds many other symbols when the text is in >=2 columns.
