This was closed upstream as the problem went away and was suspected to
have been in libxklavier - can anyone still reproduce it?

OK, so I found that upstream bug:

It seems I had to see to that gnome-settings-daemon is started with the --snyc
option. I did that then. This is the new backtrace (although to me it looks
