If I delete ~/.byobu and then run byobu it does indeed start correctly.
However, if I delete ~/.byobu and then run byobu-config as per the
original post, it crashes in the same way:-

Hi popey-
I think this should be fixed in karmic. The first run of byobu wasn't
running byobu-janitor --force, which creates the directory that byobu-
config was complaining about.
Can you reproduce this problem in latest karmic? I'm 99% sure that this
is fixed. Please reopen if it's not.
