Par usual, it seems like when I ask a question or file a bug, I find the answer shortly thereafter no matter how much I have searched before that... I installed KDE 4.2.4 from the PPA repository. I don't know if this was a bugfix since 4.2.2 or if "reinstalling" KDE kicked something in the pants.

I deleted the "Led Revolution" theme and... 1. The tooltips for my taskbar items are back to the theme color 2. The kickoff (which I assume is a tooltip) is back to the theme color 3. BUT, krunner is still fire-engine red... -- KDE 4 desktop theme not updating properly https://bugs.launchpad.net/
