Please add Ctrl+Y for redo, at least as an option.
Most software I use (FF, Chrome, Audacity, Notepad++, Geany, ALL Windows
Programs, etc..) all of them have Ctrl+Y for redo and many people rely on it.
For me it is enough to stop me from using, and many are used to this shortcut.

I have to say this does piss me off to no end. I spend the majority of
my day in apps that use Ctrl+y for redo (e.g. Firefox, Chrome, Eclipse,
etc.), so when I use gedit I always forget that it has a completely
different key binding. Perhaps it could support both? That way it
satisfies anyone wh
gedit appears to use the Gtk convention. Perhaps a new bug should be
opened against GIMP and Firefox.

I haven't found a GTK application yet that uses CTRL+Y. I'm removing the
gedit task for now as there's no bug there.

gedit ("Text Editor") is a fairly standard part of the default Ubuntu
experience; this is very simple to fix; and many users would be
extremely befuddled by this. Even though it's application-specific, it
makes a nice, small paper cut.

Actually, it appears that cntrl-shift-z is standard across most Gtk
applications. rugby471, can you identify which Gtk applications use
ctrl-y for redo?
