I installed cutecom on 9.10 Karmic (gnome), and got no icon in the menu.
Sure, I can create the icon myself. But couldn't that be fixed in the package?

Thanks for reporting this issue. I installed cutecom in fresh installs
of Ubuntu 8.04 and Xubuntu 8.04. Neither one adds it to the menus.
However, Xubuntu 8.10 did add cutecom to the menu under Accessories.
Ubuntu 8.10 did not.
This appears to be because cutecom adds its .desktop file to
/usr/shar
