I have not tried any in-place upgrades recently, since all such previous attempts resulted in either losses or severely annoying journeys through the land of dmcrypt. Having said that, problems that I had were fixed with font-cache rebuilding, using the -f option to force rebuilds. On Sat, 2010-0

Use "xlsfonts" to list all available fonts on your system (this command access directly to X11). Then use "xfd -fn lucidasanstypewriter-bold-12" to display the font. So you can get the name of fonts which do not display. If the font with it you had problem display well, the problem does not affect
