ok i tracked down the issue. The problem is that is use an different icon style
called Tangerine.
and there is no icon in this folder
Solution: copy
/usr/share/icons/Human/scaleable/status/notification-network-wireless-full.svg
to
/usr/share/icons/Tangerine/scaleable/status/
ensure that there
the probem is that this has worked before and then stopped working for
no reason. I'm using ext4 WITHOUT nodelloc probably and system hang was
the issue?
Reinstalling the network-manager-gnome packet in synaptica had no affect
