Hello, I tried to install Karmic, but the installer warns me it might
ruin some important data on my computer. I have a separate 20GB
partition just for testing purposes which I wouldn't mind to get
formatted, I've used manual partitioning in ubuntu installer a several

A new major version of the -intel driver is now available in Karmic.
This version includes a major reworking of the acceleration
architecture, which resolves a huge number of issues. We do not know
whether it resolves the issue you reported.

I complained of the bug and Dotan reported it for me.
I have since reverted to 8.10 (bugs are less annoying there),

It is however really caused by the Intel graphics driver, so I am moving the
bug over there. Please attach the output of the command
lspci -vvnn
to this report, so it is easier for the Xorg triagers to process the bug.

I have a Dell Inspiron 1545 laptop with an intel graphics chip. I followed the
"safe" instructions in

up with a black screen. I reverted my xorg.conf and my /etc/apt/source.list and
updated. I restarted X and did s
forgot to mention, I have seen (still) repainting issues with Kmail in
the area above the message window since I applied the fiz I described in
my previous post. I have NOT seen the repainting issues in the folders
area since applying the modified Intel video fix.
