Public bug reported: Binary package hint: synaptic
When you add a new repository to the software sources, Synaptic's quick search function does not work for the new repository. I added the http://download.virtualbox.org/virtualbox/debian repository, but when I quick search for "virtualbox" it only finds the one in the Ubuntu repositories. Even if I explicitly select the new repository as Origin, and I see the virtualbox-2.2 package there, when I type virtualbox or even virtualbox-2.2 in the Quick search field it disappears. When I first used Synaptic I noticed that it said something like "building quick search index". Apparently it doesn't rebuild this index when a new repository is added. The expected behaviour is that the index is rebuilt when a new repository is added so that quick search will find the new packages.
