I'm testing the same with Karmic and still cannot confirm the issue, are

In memos keyboard work. Even when i returned from memos to tasks keyboard start
to work.
Look like after changing date need too much time for "restore" keyboard.
In keyboard don't work only space and enter but all letters work.

thanks for the report, that's not an issue here, could you try the same
with a new user created on your system? is that a focus issue or the
keyboard doesn't work at all in memos for example.
