Seems like my problem is very similar. My session crashes everytime I go
to fullscreen with Mplayer and VLC since 2 days on my Jaunty. But I
don't have the volume issue.
If I go to full screen it crashes instantly, and if I don't, it crashes
after a few moments.
Should I create another bug?

Well, I followed the instruction in there, but you won't have the
backtrace info as my WHOLE session get killed by this bug. I have to re-
login to get to the file.
