I have the same problem on 9.10 after upgrade to 2.6.31-16 on amd64. I
can't log out (Ctrl-Alt-Backspace doesn't work). The only thing I can do
is to reboot after opening a new console (Ctrl-Alt-F1) and logging in as
root. This happens after a certain duration. When the computer is idle
for 1 hour
Another news from my mouse: right after I wrote the above message,
scrolling upward worked again. Sorry for that. The left mouse button
error remains however.

News from my mouse:
After Reboot the mouse does not get recognized at all. I have to wait
for several seconds after the desktop is fully loaded then I have to
switch the mouse off and on again.
The middle scroll wheel does not work in the upward direction. Scrolling
down works fine, scrolling upw
