This still happens to me about 1x/week on latest Ubuntu, with the PPA
driver. Since it's a laptop I'm usually somewhere where I can't ssh
into it :-(. I will try upgrading to karmic & see if it still happens.

Well, next I'd like to forward this issue upstream, but first it must be
retested on latest development version of Karmic to make sure the issue
still happens there with the latest code. ISO images are available at
http://cdimages.ubuntu.com/releases/karmic/. If you can reproduce it in
the LiveCD
The dbg version won't have an effect - that just provides debug symbols,
which is useful if you're troubleshooting an X crash. But you're having
a gpu freeze. It's a shame that the fix in the PPA didn't resolve it,
because that's something we could backport to Jaunty.

I installed the PPA, Bryce (thanks!) but the freeze happened again to me
last night. Had to reboot as usual, didn't have time to get the logs
but I will next time. Perhaps I should install the dbg version, will
that help?

Please test this PPA, which has a fix for certain freeze issues, such as

Hi Bryce, here is the current Xorg.0.log file. Please let me know if you
need the Xorg "freeze" log file. I'm also gonna try and see if I can

Thanks Jana, can you also attach your Xorg.0.log?

fine.
I followed the steps for the X-freeze-test (X Freeze Testing for Intel
