reproduce the problem and tried going to the page as you mentioned on a
live cd and it shows up as English as expected.

Chris, Thanks for looking at this problem.
Give it one more short, boot the latest Karmic daily build LiveCD and
then open tools>Options>Language Settings>Writing Aids.
You will see that the default is Czech.

I still can't reproduce this problem, can anyone else besides arky? If
so can you tell me exactly what you did to do so. I have no idea why I

Removing .openoffice.org* files and testing didn't reproduce this bug in
latest openoffice.org ( 1:3.1.0-3ubuntu2 ).
However since bug was discovered while installing ubuntu I would wait
until release of Karmic Alpha 1 desktop and try to reproduce the bug.

Yes, the system is US (English)
Test Case:
1) Do a fresh install using US (English) as default locale
2) Open Oo tools>Options>Language Settings>Writing Aids
3) Select Hunspell Spellchecker and click Edit button
4) Look Language: dropdown box is selected to Czech

Does it happen for you on all four installs? If so what settings did you
use for the install? It appears you setup your system as US (English)
when you installed it, is that correct?
