The problem depicted in the screen shot isn't a dialog box that is too
large for the screen, but rather the actual top of the screen where the
top bar is cut off.

Modal dialogue boxes can be designed in such a way that they cannot be
displayed in their entirety of certain sizes of screen. Normally by
holding down Alt you can hold down the left mouse button and drag them
up the screen. (I always have to do this for the Software Updater on my
newer EEEPC wit
It has nothing to do with design; it is a hardware or driver issue since
several scan lines are not actually being displayed on the screen.

Sorry, I don't see this as a video driver or a hardware defect. Its is
just poor design, because no-one thinks about small screen sizes.
Anyway, I no longer have an interest in this bug,

This appears to either be a bug in the video driver or a hardware defect
rather than anything to do with unity. Can you attach your
/var/log/Xorg.0.log?

I recently installed Lubuntu 12.04 on the EEEPC I had when I reported
this back in 2009. I had to use the Alternate install because of the
small amount of disk space available (4GB SSD) and had no problems with
the dialogues.

Has there been any update whatsoever? The problem appears to persist
with (X)Ubuntu 12.04. :(

This issue has returned in Natty (alpha 3). I attempted to install on an
Acer Aspire One 110 (8.9" screen capable of 1024x600) and the installer
dialogs are just too large for the screen. In addition, the menubar
which would allow me to connect to a wifi network during install is off
the screen. I
This problem it improved in Lucid where the installer uses a smaller
window. However it still remains a problem with the partitioning
dialogue. There are no buttons at the bottom of the window of this
dialogue.

This still and issue after install. The bottom of movie player and many
other programs are cut-off. I was able to install eeepc tray but this
broke my Fn key bindings. The intel driver utility allowed for scrolling
as a solution, can't this be auto configured in xorg.conf at startup?
