I don't dare to reopen the bug report, but I have experienced the same
issue. I installed kde-core on Xubuntu Jaunty + kdm. After a reboot,
right-clicking any icon except the trash can crashed the plasma
workspace. Also installing kdebase removed the issue.

Tried installing kdebase, and I am no longer able to reproduce this bug.
Seems some component in kdebase "fixed" this issue for me.

I get something very similar. I try to right-click on "Home" in "Desktop
Folder" on the kde4 desktop and get a signal 11.
Steps to reproduce (included all steps I could think of being relevant):
1. Install ubuntu 9.04.
2. Install nvidia driver (version 180 or something).
3. Install kde-core.
