If this issue still creates non booting installs with newer releases of
Ubuntu it should probably be re-filled against the installer for the new
version. Being as this is not technically a bug, marking as invalid.

Ubuntu 9.10 has the same problem. It installs to an Ext4 filesystem, but
kboot doesn't support Ext4.
By now kboot is depricated, and petitboot should be used:
http://www.kernel.org/pub/linux/kernel/people/geoff/cell/ps3-petitboot/
It has perfect support for Ext4.

There are reports that geoff's latest testing build already support ext4

You received this bug notification because
There is way to bypass this problem easily by creating /boot partition during
install with ext3 support and setting it bootable. Discussion link to psubuntu

I don't think Ext4 is "supported" by kboot. Maybe it works, but you
would have to test to make sure of it (kboot's kernel is OLD).
To support ext4 properly, we will probably have to switch to petitboot
(as soon as it gets packaged here or in Debian).

true that this is not really a bug more of a limitation of the version
of kboot used. but there must be some way to get this to work. i found
this site wich seems to say that this ver of kboot supports ext4 but i
don't know enough to try it. with the weekend i will have plenty of time
to play aroun
