Hello,
should we report the problem with some models from Sony with the
embedded 3G modems [0af0:7601] (Vaio P / Vaio X) in karmic on a new bug
report ?
It would be wonderful, if i can wipe my windows partition.

The same problem exists with the Sony Vaio X.
The modem is only seen after a warm boot after having windows bootet.

Hi! Mine's a TT11LN; the modem is named "Bus 001 Device 004: ID
0af0:7601" by lsusb and YES, it works flawesly under Karmic beta with
linux-image-2.6.31-14-generic version 2.6.31-14.48.
As I never use windows (I shrink windows to 15GB just in case I need

It has been working on Karmic on my Vaio vgnn-p19, but since I performed
a BIOS upgrade, the modem is not powered on aymore (unless I first boot
Windows)
Seems like the newer BIOS broke something

The Problem still exists with the Kernel 2.6.31-12-generic in a Sony Vaio P
with a Globetrotter GT M378 Modem
Only with a warm reboot from windows, the device is shown up and i can connect
with the network-manager.

Yes, it appears to be hardware-specific. I have two computers - one Network
(Swedish made) and one Packard Bell, both desktop machines. The Packard Bell
machine recognises the modem even if plugged-in before boot, the Network one
doesn't.
I used to run Mandriva (2009.1) on both machines. The Man

Tim, I've tried the linux-image-2.6.28-11-generic_2.6.28-11.42_amd64.deb
kernel, and it works fine for me. The modem shows up after a cold boot
now.
