I still can't collect the imap messages from my Google apps account. I have
not tried it in Thunderbird to see if it would be an issue there as well.

There is a mention of slow to no response on Google so they are aware of
the issue. It might be that the messages are just in one folder with
labels and it times out trying to list 20k messages. I couldn't find a
way to control the time out value and maybe raise it a little to
compensate for the ti
