I am running into the same issue, on fully updated lucid.
I just wanted to add the observation that the crash seems to happen during
large file transfers. (So far I have only seen it during cross device transfers
>4GB, but I haven't tried to replicate with network or transfers to same
device.) O
I have this same problem -- four or five intel driver crashes each day.

Specifically, the same driver edition, v1.3.27ks gets used on both Lucid and
Jaunty.

I installed linux-backports-modules-jaunty, but it doesn't solve the issue.
I don't know if it is really a duplicate of bug 200509, because my driver is
iwlagn, not iwl4965. But the main problem is the same, so if you think it
should be marked as duplicate, I will agree with you :)

I'd suggest to first try installing linux-backports-modules-jaunty to
see if it helps. It contains and updated compat-wireless stack. If
it's still an issue, I'd be inclined to mark this as a duplicate of bug
