No you misunderstand, you will not lose anything. They will still be
installable from the interface. This is a backend change that you won't
notice.

Excellent. I think this is great news, though I will miss the
convenience of being able to install them easily right from the
interface. It does solve my complaint, though!

Apparently you didn't READ my original report, in which I stated that I
do not have it installed! The bug is about being unable to download the
plugins like I used to, so that I do NOT have to install Evolution, and
so that I can always run the latest version in between Ubuntu releases.
