I found the solution for my problem.
I had to set the switch "audigy analog/digital output jack" visible and
activate it. Since then sound works just fine for me.

I seem to have the same problem. I had sound on Intrepid, then
reinstalled Jaunty and no sound at all (not even on the live CD).
What I figured out is:
If I go to Preferences -> Sound, then change from autodetect to one specific
line having Audigy in it, and turn up the volume to max in both the
