There seems to be more information in this bug #507720, although I'm not
sure it's the same problem.

it would be nice to be able to use HPET and have suspend/resume working.
is there an issue with the RTC driver in the current kernel?
for now I just don't use suspend/resume.

Another report:
I disabled HPET in my BIOS and everything works like a charm, without the need
of aditional kernel parameters.
I know that from the POV of the kernel disabling in the BIOS is "the same" as
hpet=disable, but I just wanted to post this experiment :)

After looking at this page:

hpet=disabled solved the resume problem for some people.
I tried it here and now my system can resume without any fuzz :D
For the records, I've also tried a stock 2.6.29.3 kernel and the bug
