It was also on an old laptop. I still need the PulseAudio Volume Control
to 'awaken' the AudioHub after being suspended, but unlike the old
laptop the option is always there without the need to reboot.

This bug report was filed against an old version of Ubuntu.
Can you confirm whether this is still an issue in natty?
If you don't mind, it would be very helpful if you could update the bug
report in launchpad to 'Fix Released' if it is no longer an issue for
you, or if it is still occurring under

AHA!!
I also have a Logitech wireless mouse that seems to conflict and cause
the rapid ticking. Pulling it out and re-inserting appears to solve the
problem.

Still a problem in Jaunty, although it worked well for a time after
upgrading a partition to Karmic, for what that's worth. It's back to
it's old tricks.
Still configuring as a keyboard. I have the Intel audio ad graphic
cards.

I've posted a new version of the -nvidia driver to our xorg-edgers PPA,
would you mind testing it either on Jaunty or Karmic and see if it
resolves this bug?

Why the change to nvidia-graphics-drivers-180 ??
Another contributor with the same issue uploaded their lspci.txt and
Xorg.0.log and they have Intel video. It seems clear that the issue
isn't with nvidia drivers only.

Hi jallen,
Please attach the output of `lspci -vvnn`, and attach your /var/log/Xorg.0.log
(and maybe Xorg.0.log.old) file from after reproducing this issue. If you've
made any customizations to your /etc/X11/xorg.conf please attach that as well.
