to "custom." None of my settings would stick, and the preview buttons

So it seems that this is "not a priority" although many people confirm
that sounds simply DO NOT WORK. Again, this is not a matter of sounds
not being set by default in shipped version of Ubuntu. Rather, this is a
matter of sounds not being played when their respective events are
triggered... or in

I investigated after I realized I wouldn't get sound alerts for new

This is tied to a much larger issue that I wish wasn't brushed over by
so many when i inquire about it. Just as the original stated, on my
System (Ubuntu 9.04 64 bit) the following sounds do not play, even if
you customize them:
-Window maximized
-Window unmaximized
-Window minimized
-New e-mail
I agree with Sebastien that this should not be a priority. While we are
talking about changes to sound effects, I would like to express my
opinion. I find that, in Jaunty, the locations for sound effects are
decentralized as the user can change it from the Volume control
panel/mixer and the Sound p
reopening, the issue happens only sometimes and the dialog is deprecated
upstream, that's probably not going to be worked any time soon though
but a good contributor task if somebody wants to look to the issue

- click on default, select custom in the combo, select question.wav
the question.wav is displayed in the next colum and clicking on the play
icon plays the sound
