Well, the connection seems to be working in 10.04. However, I faced some
strange issue.
After upgrading to 10.04 I tried to connect the modem and the system mounted it
as a USB stick. So, following your advices I tried to unmount it to see if
after that the system would see the card as an HSDPA
No, it means that I'll upgrade to 10.04 and then verify if the bug has gone.
After that I'll update the ticket with relevant information.

This should be fixed by now.
Please test it in the latest Ubuntu 10.04.
If it gets mounted as an USB stick, then please just eject it (in Gnome) and
wait for the system to recognize it as a 3G modem.
